Really nice, laid back hostel with a cracking view. What a great hostel! A lovely, spacious, comfortable indoor seating area and garden with lakeside view. Massive, well-kitted out kitchen. Nice, airy rooms. Clean shower and toilets. Laundry facilities. I would definitely stay here again.

Quaint and picturesque hostel Such a beautiful hostel! More like a Bed and Breakfast. Stunning views and the kitchen was so great. Multiple of every appliance, massive and clean! My room was great, nothing to complain about The only thing is the 10 minute walk to town but that is fine and beautiful. It stopped me from going out past dark but that was just me as a solo female traveller. Lovely man on desk and cutest look of the place. Oh and free coffee and tea!! No milk though but that is A ok

Fantastic setting, good facilities We stayed three nights in total in the double en-suite cabin with a fantastic view of the lake and two great seats to enjoy the view from. Room had a small fridge too which was useful to store our stuff while using main kitchen. Found latter well equipped - particularly liked the constant hot water boiler for tea/coffee. Nice plates, bowls etc. Fantastic large comfortable lounge. Used the laundry no problem. Staff friendly and helpful. No noise issues during our stay. Easy walking access to town. Good parking. Would definitely recommend and would stay again.

Best Bakpaka Eva I started off started off staying for 1 night and kept on extending my stay there and ended up staying 2 weeks. Best hostel experience I have ever had. The staff knew people by name and were always accommodating. The room was very clean and the kitchen was always very clean. Nice to be able to use the kitchen late at night. The view of the lake and mountains is amazing. Very close to town center and to walks and hikes around such as Roy's Peak. There is a shuttle that comes to pick you up to do these hikes as well. I met awesome people there that I still talk with to this day. I highly highly recommend staying here.

Nice hostel, great location, friendly people I stayed in a twin room with my friend for 2 nights. It was lovely and clean with bedding and a towel provided. It was nice and quiet in the evening but with a friendly vibe to it in the daytime. One of the nicest hostels I've stayed in so far in NZ and a good price. Bike rentals super cheap though one of the bikes had a bit of a deflated tyre so check them over before you set off. A couple of routes to choose from in the guide book too.

Great hostel!! We recently stayed at Wanaka Bakpaka for 2 nights and were very impressed! We were greeted with a very warm welcome and were shown to our room which had been upgraded from a 4 bed dorm to a twin room! This probably helped at the time of year we went but we were so pleasantly surprised. The hostel staff were so helpful our entire stay. The location was perfect, just a short walk into the centre. The hostel was clean and it was good that showers and bathrooms were allocated to 3 bedrooms so that not too many people shared the same bathroom facilities. The kitchen had plenty of cooking facilities for everyone to share and the common area was huge and homely, so lots of places to sit and chill. The only downside was that the long termers who were working in Wanaka did sometimes come across as intimidating in their cliques so we didn’t really socialise with others there. Overall would highly recommend!

What a view We stayed for two days in the double room with a lake view, and what a view! There were two chairs set outside on a little deck area, and it was such a beautiful place to sit and read in the evening. The owner was really friendly, and the kitchen was nice and modern. The room could possibly do with a bit of freshening up, but for the price we paid I was very happy. The location is great as you are not far out of the centre of Wanaka and the walk in is very pleasant. The walls are quite thin, and we could hear when the people next door were talking. Thankfully we only had neighbours on one side (as on the other side is the lake view) and they went to bed at a reasonable hour.

A decent overall experience here, the room was a bit cramped with 6 people.
